Chad Gaddie knows Buchanan County.

Chad Gaddie has practiced law in Buchanan County for over 20 years. In 2018, he was appointed Buchanan County Attorney. In that role, he manages litigation for the county and provides legal advice to the county commission and other officeholders.

In 2019, Chad led the effort to consolidate the county attorney office with the prosecutor’s office, saving the county thousands of dollars each year. Under this new alignment, Chad began prosecuting several high profile criminal cases, including:

State v. Angela Henderson - A seven year old murder. The defendant was originally convicted, but the case was overturned on appeal. Chad won the retrial and the defendant was sentenced to life in prison. Read more about it here.

State v. Sydney Jones - The defendant was convicted of child abuse for drowning her infant child. She received life in prison. Read more about it here.

In 2021, Chad drafted ballot language seeking an increase in funding for law enforcement. This initiative was passed overwhelmingly by Buchanan County voters (78%). It will result in estimated additional funding of $3,000,000 to the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department each year.

Chad is a lifelong resident of Buchanan County. He is married to his wife Julie, and they have two children. He is an frequent runner and mediocre handyman.
